What are eyelash extensions?
Eyelash extensions are semi-permanent, synthetic lashes that are adhered individually to your natural lash with a medical grade adhesive. With care and regular refills they can last indefinitely.
Can I wear make-up to my appointment?
It is recommended that you come to your eyelash extensions appointment with a clean face, however if this is out of your comfort zone the only requirement is your lashes are clean, free from foundation, eyeshadow and mascara.
Who should apply this?
Only professionals who have been trained by a qualified trainer, should apply eyelash extensions. This will ensure that the strict safety and hygiene guidelines are adhered to.
Can I apply eyelash extensions myself?
No. Only a trained professional will be able to apply eyelash extensions safely.
Who should/can wear eyelash extensions?
Everyone! They are perfect for low maintenance and everyday wear. With no need for extra make up it can reduce your morning routine by up to 20 minutes! Great for all women and men, whether at work, the gym, weddings or parties. Contact the lash lab. for discounts on group bookings for any occasion.
What is the process of applying eyelash extensions?
You will recline comfortably on a massage bed with your eyes closed for anywhere from 45mins to 2hrs. You will receive an under eye hydrating treatment during this time and your lash technician will apply the individual eyelash extensions to your individual natural lashes. Most clients find this procedure so relaxing they fall asleep.
What is the difference between Permanent vs False of Fake Eyelashes?
Semi permanent eyelash extensions are for long term wear and need to be applied by a qualified professional using a medical grade adhesive. False, fake and cluster lashes can be applied either by a make-up artist or consumer in their home. It is applied using a latex based glue and is meant for one off wear only.
Do eyelash extensions ruin my natural lashes?
Not at all. As the extensions are attached to your individual natural lashes, they will fall out when your natural lashes shed, which for most people is on a 60-90 day cycle. I
Can I wear makeup while eyelash extensions are being applied?
Yes you can wear make-up but wearing eyelash extensions can eliminate the need for wearing mascara every day. If you love makeup and want that extra oomph you should only wear Eyela as it has been specifically formulated to be worn with eyelash extensions.
Can I wear my contact lenses with these?
Yes, you can wear contact lenses. If you wear them to your appointment its best to bring eye drops as you might get dry eyes. Also it's advised to bring your glasses to your appointment so your stylist can design a set of lashes to suit your lifestyle.
Will my longer lashes may hit the lenses of my glasses?
No. If you wear your glasses to the appointment the stylist can design a set of lashes that will suit your style of glasses.
What's the difference between silk, mink and synthetic lashes?
When it comes to Silk, Faux Mink (usually just referred to as mink) and Synthetic lashes they are all different names for the same thing. These lashes are all man made, using synthetic fibres. While the materials are the same, the quality and finish of these lashes can vary. Some may have a glossy sheen to them, while others may have a more matte finish. The glossier lashes will often be branded as 'silks' while lashes with a matte finish tend to be branded as 'minks'. Real Mink lashes refer to hairs that are actually farmed from live minks. While many people will claim that the minks are not harmed during this process, there is a lot of debate over whether or not this is true. For this reason the lash lab. chooses not to apply real mink lashes.
Is there any possibility I may have allergic reaction to the adhesive?
As eyelash extensions are adhered to your natural lashes and they do not come into contact with your skin, you should have minimal chance of having an allergic reaction. However there are a very small amount of people who have an allergy to adhesives and may have a mild reaction. If you suffer from any allergies, undergoing medical treatment or have particular sensitivities it is advised to discuss these during your first consultation.
Will they look too obvious?
Not if you don't want them too. The lash lab is all about creating a look right for your eye shape and natural lashes. We offer a large range and variety of lashes including different lengths, thickness and curvature to achieve your desired effect. Our aim is to keep them looking and feeling as natural as possible.
Can I swim, exercise, shower or visit a spa while wearing it?
Yes. You can swim, shower, exercise, sleep and spa as the lash lab uses the best quality adhesive which enables worry free leisure.
Please note. Swimming or spa is not advised for 4 hours after the procedure to allow the bonding agent to fully cure. After that you can swim and spa worry free.
How long do Eyelash Extensions last?
Properly applied semi permanent Eyelash Extensions can last indefinitely with regular refills, depending on the natural growth cycle of your eyelashes and aftercare.
How often should I get refills?
In most cases you would probably need every 2 or 3 weeks depending on your lash cycle and aftercare.
Why do I need to come for refills every 3 weeks?
After 3 weeks most people will have lost a third of the lashes they had applied due to the shedding of their natural lashes. Depending on how fast you shed your natural lashes and the look you want to maintain determines whether you come back in 2, 3, or 4 weeks time.
Can I use mechanical eyelash curler?
No mechanical eyelash curlers will break the adhesive bond of the extensions and cause premature lash loss. It is safe to use a heated eyelash curler though.
Can I have my lashes removed?
Yes. The lashes can be removed gently and safely. Please don't try and do this yourself, you will just pull out your natural lashes.
Are lash extensions glued to my skin?
No, it should never be applied directly to the skin. They are applied only to a single natural lash.
Can I use Mascara?
Yes, you can wear Eyela which is water based and oil free.
Do I need to keep my eyes open during the procedure?
No, you will be reclining comfortably and asked to keep you eyes closed throughout the treatment.
What happens if my eyelash extensions fall out just a few days after they were applied?
There can be many reasons why extensions can fall out a few days after application. The most common being poor application or inadequate aftercare. Medical conditions can also play a big part in premature lash loss.
Why are my natural eyelashes shorter after the extension has shed?
Your natural lashes grow in several growth cycles, so when the lash with the extension sheds naturally a new lash grows in its place replacing it with a baby lash and therefore appearing shorter. Your natural lashes are not harmed by the lash extension if they have been correctly applied.
I had eyelash extensions applied somewhere else and I am unhappy with them can they be fixed?
Yes. We can evaluate the lashes and if so might recommend a fresh set of extensions be applied.
